Dynamical aspects in dehydrated gel

After a brief review on the Raman scattering investigations of dehydrated gels, the effect of a structural inhomogeneity on a low energy excitation is discussed. A diffusive central mode observed in a wet polyacrylamide gel becomes narrow with the progress of dehydration and, at last, a low-lying peak appears around 80 cm- 1. The peak can be observed above the glass transition temperature indicating a relation to the cross-links of the polymer network. The estimation of such a relation is supported by a low-lying spectral change caused by a structural inhomogeneity.
