N2 - Heterogeneous catalysts composed of a vitamin B12 derivative with a polymer or mesoporous silica were synthesized and characterized. These two types of catalysts were used in alkane oxidation reactions with mCPBA oxidant, and improved catalytic efficiency was obtained using the polymer supported B12 catalyst with a monolith structure compared to that of the monomeric B12 catalyst. The catalytic effects were also evaluated in several alkane substrates and the polymer supported B12 catalyst showed a better performance in all reactions compared to the silica-supported B12 catalyst.
