Hydroxyapatite (HA) with uniform morphology was successfully prepared by precipitation method at low temperature. In this research, calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2) and phosphoric acid (H3PO4) at different concentrations at 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 M were chosen as starting materials. During synthesis, the reactions took place in a water bath at 40°C and under vigorous stirring at 400 rpm. Subsequently, as-prepared HA powders were calcined at 1000 and 1200°C for 1 hour. Characterization of powder samples before and after calcination were performed using x-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). It is revealed that, the HA obtained were of good purity and have thermal stability up to 1200°C SEM and TEM studies showed that the precipitated HA consists of spherical shape particles and agglomerated after calcination. The morphology and crystallite size of the precipitates depends on the concentration of the reactants. As the concentration increases, the particles become more distorted and the grain size becomes coarser.
