The effects of wear resistance of protein boundary film, and the residual film on surface of glass plate were investigated using atomic force microscopy (AFM). Polyvinyl acetate (PVA) hydrogel, made by the repeated freezing-thawing method as upper specimen and glass plate, were used for rubbing materials. It was observed that protein boundary film was effective to reduce wear of PVA hydrogel. The study show that lubricant with appropriate ratio of protein reduces wear by formation of protein boundary layer.
