Elastic buckling and ultimate strength of steel sandwich panels subjected to longitudinal or transverse compression

抄録

Steel sandwich panels with corrugated or web cores are targeted, and assumed to be subjected to longitudinal or transverse in-plane compression. Elastic buckling eigenvalue and elastoplastic collapse behavior are analyzed by FEM. The elastic buckling, ultimate strength, and buckling/plastic collapse behavior of the steel sandwich panels are clarified. Finally, a simplified method to estimate the ultimate strength of the sandwich panels is proposed. The method is validated comparing the estimated and FEA results.
