Estimation of pullout resistance of soil reinforced by geogrids

抄録

Theoretical considerations and experiments of pullout of soil reinforced by geogrids are reviewed. In order to evaluate the behaviour of soil-geogrid interaction, effective area, which is defined by an effective length of anchor, is emphasized for extensible reinforcements. Three zones: skin friction zone, passive bearing zone and transition friction zone are proposed to estimate pullout resistance since the passive bearing zone is usually not fully developed. The results predicted by a new model presented here are compared with test results and show a good agreement.
