抄録

The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of bearing capacity and settlement of suction foundation. Especially, the focus is placed on the effect of sand behavior in the foundation. A series of laboratory experiments and finite element analysis is performed for foundations with the various depth ratios and radius ratios in dense to medium sand layers. By comparing the results of model experiment with the finite element analysis, failure modes and mechanism generating the ultimate bearing capacity and settlement are discussed.
