抄録

Transmutation using intense negative muon beams is useful to mitigate long-lived fission products from nuclear plants. To produce high intensity negative muon beams, the MERIT (multiplex energy recovery internal target) scheme was suggested. To prove the MERIT scheme, a proof-of-principle experiment was performed at KURNS (Institute of Radiation and Nuclear Science at Kyoto University). This paper presents the results of the experiment.
