Fatigue and tensile properties of pallets made from waste plastics

Fatigue and tensile properties of specimens cut from pallets made from waste plastics by using of newly developed recycling apparatus are presented. Tested materials are polypropylene film, polypropylene pellets, polyethylene, polyethylene-20wt%fly ash composite and polyethylene -20wt% calcium carbonate composite. It can be concluded that the newly developed recycling apparatus make possible to provide pallets made from waste polypropylene and polyethylene with ultimate tensile strengths of more than ninety percent of those made from fresh polypropylene and polyethylene. It has become clear that careful treatment of composite process for waste plastics enable to improve fatigue strength of polyethylene composites by strengthening the interface between an additive and base material.
