Recently, theoretical analysis and investigations have begun to evaluate that secondary organic aerosols (SOA) are generated by chemical reactions in indoor air. The overarching goal of this work was to better understand ozone and VOCs (volatile organic compounds) distribution within rooms. Towards this end, this paper reports the development of a cylindrical test chamber that can be used to obtain the second order rate constant (k b ) for the bi-molecular chemical reaction of ozone and VOC in the air phase and the fractional aerosol yield (Y) for partitioning from the air phase to aerosol phase.
