N2 - By directly chemical oxidative polymerization of aniline on Au electrode treated with Au nanoparticles (Au- NPs) deposition and 4-aminothiophenol (ATP) modification, polyaniline (PANI) fibers were obtained in-situ in micro- /nano- size with two dimensional network structures. It was found that the ATP modification played an important role for the formation of fibrous network and in the decrease in the contact resistance between the PANI film and the electrode surface. The PANI film showed a rapid response upon the exposure to various gases with low detection limit, which indicated that the developed PANI sensor could be applied in the high sensitive detection of hazardous gases
