High sensitive glucose amperometric detection using electrochemically- generated hydroxyl radicals at nitrogen-doped amorphous carbon (N-doped DLC) was examined. Flow injection analytical system using N-doped DLC showed higher performance in a potential region of oxygen evolution (>3.6 V vs. Ag|AgCl). Linear dynamic range was 4 orders of magnitude (1 M to 10 mM). Theoretical detection limit (S/N = 3) was 1.37 M at 3.6 V. Linear relations between response current and concentration were also observed in molecules easily oxidized by OH radicals. Glucose oxidation mediated by OH radicals in higher potential region is included in amperometric glucose detection mechanism at N-doped DLC.
