The use of a thiophene/phenylene co-oligomer of 1,4-bis(5-phenyl-2-thienyl) benzene (AC5) for doping highly efficient organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), was analyzed. AC5 features excellent electrical and light-emitting characteristics, which play important role as an emitting dopant for OLEDs. OLED structure consisted of a glass substrate, an indium tin oxide (ITO) anode layer, an electron-blocking hole-transport layer, an emitting layer doped with AC5, a hole-blocking electron-transport layer, and a MgAg cathode layer. The current density-voltage characteristics of the OLEDs with varying X (ranging from 1 to 8 mol %) were analyzed for the efficient characteristics. The EL spectra was also performed for observing current-voltage characteristics of the OLEDs. Results show that oligomer with excellent light-emitting and electrical characteristics can be used for developing next-generation organic electrical devices, such as organic light-emitting transistors.
