A metal window with developing turbulent flow between parallel plates or in a pipe is proposed for the recovery of hydrogen isotopes from a blanket of a D-T fusion reactor. Mass transfer to and through the metal window walls is numerically calculated. The contributions of the diffusion resistance in the fluid and through the permeable walls and the mass transfer resistance at the downstream side of walls to the overall mass transfer resistance are discussed. A set of correlations are proposed for the design of the metal window. As an engineering design example, the area of the metal window was determined for the recovery of tritium from the liquid blanket such as Li, Li//1//7Pb//8//3 or Li//2BeF//4.
