抄録

The identification of English/r/ and /l/ in white noise by native and non-native listeners was discussed. The most characteristic difference was found to be present in the consonant identification between two groups of listeners in the /r/-/l/ contrast. The difference was so large that the American-native listeners achieved 90.3% accuracy even at a signal to noise ratio of -12 dB.
