N2 - A new capacitive sensing method using the difference of transient response by touch positions was proposed. In this method, the linearity of touch detection on an electrode was improved by using two reference voltages in relaxation oscillator circuits. We verified the touch panel operation with the improved circuits by not only SPICE simulation but also an evaluation circuit board. The suggested method is able to provide a tremendous cost advantage because of a single layer structure and simple wiring.
