Knot localization in a flexible polymer confined in a tube

We have examined the behaviors of a knotted linear polymer in the narrow tube using Langevin dynamics simulation, and have found that the knot is strongly localized in such a geometry. A simple theoretical argument suggests that the strong localization is triggered by the interaction among compressed loops in the knotted part and a generic phenomenon in the one dimensional space.
