Densities of liquid mixtures are very important as fundamental data in process design and are also helpful to understand characteristic of solutions. Relatively few density data have been reported for liquid mixtures especially in higher temperatures. A qualitative or quantitative prediction has been tried for salt effect on vapor-liquid equilibria from the knowledge of molar volume data for solutions containing a salt. By using these data a qualitative model, for judging salt effect on vapor-liquid equilibria (salting-in or salting-out), has been proposed on the basis of the electrostriction volume concept.
