New pipe-jacking method in connecting new pipeline to the existing underground structure

抄録

This pipe jacking method can connect pipeline to the existing underground structure with no ground release because cutting hood integrated in the machine is connected directly to the existing underground structure. The special machine for this method equips flexible cutting arm, slid able hood with cutting bits and so on. And after connecting machine hood to the existing underground structure, this machine is divided two parts, that is hood and driving part, and the driving part is easily returnable to the starting shaft. With these system, there is no need to improve ground because no ground release occurs. So it can be able to connect pipeline to the existing underground structure, such as manhole under the cloudy intersection or pipeline built in shield tunneling method, where many existing lifelines in the ground or high cover depth where utility pipelines installation, that is certain ground improvement around the arrival point is difficult. This report introduces about the structure of this pipe-jacking machine and mechanism of this pipe-jacking method and the example of the construction result using this method.
