Numerical simulations of blast waves from spherical charge

The spherical TNT charge exploded in air has been numerically simulated by a 2-D hydrodynamic code in which the JWL equation of state is employed for describing the expansion of detonation products and the air is assumed as the perfect gas. The simulation on the peak overpressure and positive impulse are compared with the corresponding experimental data by Swisdak. It is found that this code can be effectively applied to the calculation on the problem of blast waves.
