This paper presents offshore tsunami profiles observed by NOWPHAS (Nationwide Ocean Wave Information Network for Ports and Harbours) wave-measuring instruments installed at various coastal wave stations and tide stations in Japan. Included are wave profiles of damage-inflicting tsunamis generated by the 1993 Hokkaido-Southwest Earthquake, the 1994 Hokkaido-Eastoff Earthquake, the 1996 Iri-Anjaya Earthquake, and other smaller recently occurring tsumamis. Also presented are characteristics and phenomena of interest clarified through various analyses performed on observational data.
