N2 - In previous chapters, thermodynamic equilibrium conditions for vesiculation of magma and kinetics of nucleation and growth of bubbles have been explained. Bubbles in magma experience both simple elemental processes of nucleation and growth in supersaturated liquid and various processes before reaching the surface of the Earth. Among various processes bubbles experience, this chapter explains secondary growth, deformation, coalescence, detachment, collapse, and oscillation, which are relatively well studied. In addition to the previous chapters, theoretical examination is first conducted, followed by application of the theoretical examination to the experimental results.
