N2 - A simple approximation method for quantitative depth pro filing using photoacoustic spectroscopy has recently been proposed. This method adopts an approximation of the inversion of the Laplace transform in order to simplify the calculation of the depth-dependent optical absorption coefficient from PA frequency responses. The technique was successfully applied to the depth pro filing of ion-pair adsorbed polyvinylchloride films, in which the absorption coefficients vary continuously with depth. The results qualitatively corresponded to the microscopic cross sections of the films.
