Magnetic memory effect in an iron (II) spin-crossover induced by illumination was studied. It was found that an Fe (II) spin-cross (SC) complex could be optically changed from the low spin (LS) to the high-spin (HS) state (LIESST). It was observed that a change in the molecular structure between the seven-coordinate HS and the six-coordinate LS forms took place during the thermal spin-state transition, along with a color variation from dark blue to bluish violet. The results show that the total HS fraction on both sites is greater than 50 percent for reverse LIESST (H→S) caused by illumination with 980 nm light.
