'PICsome' self-assembled from a pair of oppositely charged block copolymers as containers of water-soluble macromolecules

抄録

A novel type of polymersome formed through a self-assembly of polyion complex of block copolymers was firstly designed as "PICsome". The simplicity of the process of solute encapsulation into the PICsome indicates the feasibility of the PICsome as a container for water-soluble macromolecules. The PICsome with encapsulated FITC-Dex was appreciably stable in physiological buffer as observed by confocal laser scanning microscope (CLSM) even after three months standing at ambient temperature. Furthermore, the CLSM results indicate that the PICsome membrane has a semipermeable character to allow the penetration of only small molecules.
