Reduction of aerodynamic heating with opposing jet through extended nozzle in high enthalpy flow

抄録

Thermal protection efficiency of combinational configuration of the opposing jet and the spike has been investigated. Heat flux distributions on hemispherical-cylindrical test model with various length of the extended nozzle have been measured in free piston shock tunnel. The test results demonstrate that this combinational configuration achieve sufficient thermal protection in smaller amount of jet flow than that of the opposing jet alone. Numerical simulations are also presented to explain the mechanisms of reducing the heat load on the nose part of blunt body.
