The polymer-protected metal nanoparticle, characterized by a uniform particle size, a monodispersity and a large specific surface area with a chemical stability, has attracted much attention because of its potential application in the hydrogen technology. In this study, by use of a rubeanic acid polymer (RAP) with a dibasic acidic character, polymer-protected noble metal nanoparticles (RAP-Pt, RAP-Pd) with 4~15 nm diameters were successfully synthesized. Their proton conductivities at room temperature show relative humidity (RH)-dependences and reach at remarkably high value (>1×10-2Scm-1) at RH = 100 %. The mechanism of this phenomenon will be also described.
