In order to clarify the discrepancies among reports on the work-hardening rate without the dynamic recovery effect, h, and the softening rate without the work-hardening effect, r, the two parameters have been measured by stress change, strain rate change and stress relaxation tests. It is found that h values for the same deformation state agree within 30 per cent and r values within 20 per cent. It is concluded that the disagreements are caused by the differences in production history.
