The basic principles of the exchange in the water-soil system are examined through soil column experiments. The ionic distribution of exchangeable and soluble species were measured with depth and time. The data obtained show that the capillarity in soil profile is responsible for the transport of water and soluble ions from the lower depths. The transport of exchanging ionic-solute through soil column is significantly affected by ion exchanging reaction. The upper 10 cm soil section has been examined for change in soil water quality and for adsorbed species on the soil surface. (from Authors)
