N2 - Our studies on the elastic scattering of 65 MeV polarized protons from s-d and f-p shell nuclei have been extended to seven more nuclides, including 208Pb. The real spin-orbit part of the best-fit optical potential was found to show a nuclear shell effect, the main part of which cannot be attributed to the change in the nuclear size or shape.
