The leakage of gas from the ground is frequently discussed in connection with the safety and protection of the inhabitants leaving close to abandoned coal mines. This article shows possibilities how to use mathematical models that calculate potential methane escape from the underground to reduce its emission. It also presents some current results from the field of construction of mathematical models that deal with methane-leak from closed mines.
