抄録

<p>We have investigated the spin-polarized band structure of a Sn monoatomic layer formed by intercalation into graphene/SiC interface by spin- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. We find coexistence of Zeeman- and Rashba-type spin-polarized bands at the K point. This result departs from understanding with taking the lattice symmetry only into account, where the Zeeman type is consistent with the lattice symmetry while the Rashba type is inconsistent. On the other hand, the symmetry of the charge density distribution clearly explains the nature of the spin-polarized bands. We conclude that the symmetry of the charge density distribution is a key to understand the nature of the spin splitting.</p>
