Study of ICRF Wave Propagation and Absorption in INTOR Tokamak Plasma

The propagation and absorption structures of ICRF (ion cyclotron range of frequencies) waves in the INTOR Tokamak plasma are investigated. The kinetic wave equation is solved for a deuterium-tritium plasma by employing a one-dimensional model equilibrium of the tokamak plasma. The wave is assumed to be excited by the poloidal antenna current in the low-field side. The accessibility of the ICRF wave, its energy deposition profile, the partition of absorbed energy between plasma species, and the antenna-plasma coupling are studied. The dependence of the energy absorption rate on the plasma parameters and the antenna location are examined.
