In this study, the directivity of tire noise, the dominant noise source of a vehicle moving at a constant speed, was modeled in a two dimensional sound field. The performance of the barrier for different kinds of directivities was numerically calculated by the boundary element method (BEM). The results show that the insertion loss increases as the horizontal directivity becomes stronger and decreases as the vertical directivity becomes stronger.
