Substituent effects on organic-metallic hybrid polymers with a π-conjugated backbone

Organic-metallic hybrid materials have received much attention as functional nanodevices having novel magnetic, spectroscopic and electrochemical properties. In our research group, polymer complexes were prepared from 1,4-bis(terpyridyl)benzene and Iron(II) metal, and we reported they were possible to be used as composite elements of functional materials. We tried to establish effective composition methods of ligand having various substitution forms, and we succeeded in development of composition methods of 1,4-bis(terpyridyl)benzene derivatives with five kinds of substitution forms. We synthesized polymer complexes with ligand having various substituents and substituent effects were investigated in detail through the spectroscopic and electrochemical methods.
