Syntheses of self-assembly polymer complexes by complexation

Organic-metallic hybrid materials have received much attention as functional nanodevices having novel magnetic, spectroscopic and electrochemical properties. In our group, metallosupramolecular coordination polymers were developed as functional modular elements. Based on metal ion-induced self-assembly between bis(terpyridyl)benzene and transition metal (Fe(II)), water and alcohol-soluble polymers were formed. They further made complexes with negatively charged phosphates, and the resulted complexes were soluble in organic solvent and formed liquid crystalline phase. The organic-metallic hybrid polymers were researched on the spectroscopic and electrochemical properties in detail. In addition, we would like to describe the preparation of novel bis(terpyridyl)benzene derivatives and the properties of new complexes.
