We observed ten cases of peripheral exudative hemorrhagic chorioretinopathy (PEHCR) during the past six years. This disease is characterized by exudation and hemorrhage in the subretinal space or posterior to the retinal pigment epithelium in extramacular area. It is prone to involve age persons and may simulate age-related macular degeneration. The present series comprised 7 males and 3 females. Only one eye was involved in all the cases. The ages ranged from 60 to 80 years, average 71 years. Vitreous hemorrhage was the initial presenting symptom and the PEHCR was identified after vitreous surgery. The lesion was located temporal to the macula in 4 eyes. Age-related macular degeneration was also present in 4 eyes, Neovascularization was identified only by indocyanine green angiography in 2 eyes. PEHCR may be one of the causative lesions in vitreous hemorrhage of unidentified nature.
