Cation diffusion in solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) interface causes degradation of cell performance. We investigated the cation diffusion mechanism in yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ) as a first step to clarify the cation diffusion mechanism in SOFC interface. Molecular dynamics simulation combined with metadynamics method was used to simulate cation jumps in this study. Cation jumps were confirmed by using metadyanamics method. Y and Sr diffusion mechanisms in YSZ are discussed in this study.
