To realize a very large floating structure (VFLS) requires knowledge of the various effects it will have on the marine environment around it. An environment impact assessment of the physical, chemical and biological aspects was made using a numerical study by means of an ecohydrodynamic model. After verifying the ecohydrodynamic model, the effects of an imaginary VLFS on the surrounding environment were examined in 7 locations in Tokyo Bay by evaluation functions that we newly defined. Based on computations, it is concluded that the impact of the structure on the marine environment in summer varied significantly depending on the locations.
